I can finally blog again!

My 2 tests are over!! I have some free time for a few days so I can write again! And a lot has happened over the past 2 weeks.

So the biggest thing that happened in the past week was...I confirmed my acceptance to The University of Michigan at Flint for graduate school!!!!!!! UM Flint was not my number 1 choice and I am still waiting to hear back from some other schools that are less expensive than UM. But I am excited for the chance to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to school in a new place, and in a different region of the country. I will definitely be taking many risks if I go there like being in an unfamiliar place, being far from my family, and flying (I HATE AIRPLANES!). But I can't drive back and forth from the school whenever I want to go home since it is a 13 hour drive with no traffic. So I will have to fly. Regardless, UM is a great school with an amazing tradition and it is so exciting to be accepted to a school of that caliber.

The second biggest thing that happened...my suitemate and I signed up for a 5K! It is on April 7th and the best thing about ti is that it is for a good cause. It is for Feed the Need. Feed the Need is a "volunteer organization dedicated to promoting education and awareness of local hunger issues by sponsoring physical activities and events". The cool part of it is that the entry fee is 25 cans/boxes of nonperishable foods. The race is actually in a state park on the Long Island Sound. The race course is probably going to be beautiful and it is for a great cause. My suitemate and I are excited about it and can't wait to run it. If you are in the southern central CT area and want to check out the run here is their website http://feedtheneed.org/

A lot of smaller things happened as well (like working and classes) but those were the main things.

Back to the training. Even though I had these tests, I still managed to get to the gym or a little bit during the week. The weekend was a different story. I didn't do any training. But, the good thing is that during the week, I ran 2 miles on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. At the end of the week last week, I did 1 mile at 5mph and the other mile at 5.5mph. I also ran today at 5.5mph over the 2 miles. I want to build up my speed and eventually increase my mile time.

I plan to get to 2.5 miles by the end of the week. I hope to keep it at a 5.5mph or a faster pace. I am hoping to get up to the 5K distance next week. I also want to start training outside since I am getting more comfortable at running a longer distance (and also because it is starting to get warmer out).

Well, that is it for now. I am hoping to keep up on blogging consistently in the future and not have to stop for days on end. Thanks for reading!
