Well, its been a while since my last post

I haven't posted an entry in about a month in a half (yikes!!) and I have no real excuses for it lol.

I ran my first 5K the day before Easter (feels like an eternity ago) and I did really well. My roommate and I got to the state park and it was gorgeous outside. It wasn't too hot or cold. And the race was right next to the beach so we had ocean views and smelled the beach air the whole race. The best part was dropping off our "entry fee" which was 50 cans of food for a local food bank. It felt great to help out the community as well as running my first race.

The start of the race. We were in front.                      In the middle of the race.

We got our racing bibs along with a t-shirt and the tracking chip that you put on your shoe. We arrived at the starting line and there were a lot of people running with us (about 500 people). The race started and my roommate set a good pace for me (she has longer legs so race her pace was a good challenge for me). By the 2nd mile, I was tired. But I didn't want to stop or slow down our pace. We finally got to the finish line and we crossed the line at 30 minutes and 44 seconds! I wasn't really expecting that time because I would run the 5K in about 34 minutes during training. But it was a pleasant surprise when we got our results a few minutes later. I think we ended 183,184 out of 500 or so people which was great.

After the race, the sponsors of the race provided us with food and drinks. My roommate and I ventured onto the beach and took some pictures and relaxed next to the Long Island Sound. I then went back to school to pack and I went home for Easter. I was surprised that my legs weren't very sore since I was running at a faster pace. I did feel good afterwards which was nice.

The view of the Long Island Sound.             That is me after the race on the beach.

Since the race, I haven't been running a lot. Being that it is the end of the school year, I did turn my focus to graduating from college and being with my friends. Hopefully I will run another 5K before I leave for graduate school in fall.

That is it for now. I will try to keep up with the posts but they probably won't be running related for a little while. But who knows!!
