It has been an absolutely crazy 2 weeks. I had my orientation in Michigan, went to Canada, almost got hit with a foul ball at a Blue Jays game, and almost got stranded in the middle of nowhere in a middle of a thunderstorm. Yep, that sums it up a little bit. I got back to running late last week and I have 3 weeks to train for the big day.
So I will sum up my trip. On Wednesday July 11, my Dad and I drove out to Michigan from Long Island, which was a 12 hour drive. We left at 6:30 am and we got there around 6pm. The next day, I had my graduate school orientation at the University of Michigan in Flint. I love the school and it is so different than Quinnipiac where I got my undergraduate degree. My Dad and I drove around the area and it is incredible how different it is from NY.

On that Friday, I had my 2nd day of orientation and I also went to see my apartment for the first time. It is surreal that I am having my own place. After seeing the apartment we drove to Canada, the first time I had to use my passport (I was excited!). On Saturday, we went to the Hockey Hall of Fame which was really cool. We went to the Blue Jays game afterwards. The Blue Jays won against the Indians 11-9 and my Dad splurged and got tickets 16 rows from the field. Also, we were sitting watching the game and a Cleveland player hit the ball foul. It hit off the wall to on the 2nd deck and fell in my row 3 seats away from me! I went up to get the ball but 2 people in the row behind me dove over my row to get it and I wasn't risking injury for a foul ball. Even if I did get the ball, I would have given it to a kid b/c I am not a Cleveland/Toronto fan (Go Yankees!) and they would appreciate the ball more than me. After the game we walked around Toronto and got Tim Horton's Coffee (THE BEST COFFEE EVER!) and went back to our hotel.

On Sunday we started driving back to Long Island and we stopped in Niagara Falls (my first time there). We took a few pictures and stopped for like 30 minutes. We began our 10 hour road trip and we saw a lot of cool scenery (a lot of farms in which I am not used to) and also a lot of thunderstorms. It was so bad at times that we couldn't see 5 feet in front of us. It was crazy. But we got home safe and sound.

And now it is back to normal for a little while. I am still running at a 5K pace along with doing some strength training. I have been working hard on my core and leg muscles b/c the Yankee Stadium 5k I am running has 300 stairs and ramps. For the next 3 weeks I am hoping on running 5-6 days a week and doing strength training 3-4 of those days. I am hoping that will keep me in shape and ready for the race.
That's all for now. Today is my rest day so I will be back at it tomorrow. Happy running everyone!
