Almost back at 5K distance!

I have only been training for a week after taking 2 months off from running. I am at 2.6 miles and I also have been doing A LOT of strength training and cross training.

Basically my routine is running on the treadmill first. It has been wayyyyy too hot outside to do any type of outdoor running (its been in the 90s all week and it will stay in the 90s throughout this week coming up). So after running on the treadmill, I have done some strength training. The 5K that I am doing at Yankee Stadium includes steps and ramps so I am trying to build some muscle and strength. I am working on my core and my upper body because having a strong upper body can help you with up taking oxygen during exercise. After everything, I am at the gym for just over a hour and feel sore afterwards.

I am hoping to work out 4 days this week. Going to be a fun week with the 4th of July and family parties.
