What a cool experience! The 5K was awesome and it was so fun!
And the best part was that all of the money from the race was donated to cancer research!
Let me take you through the race. We started on the field level (1st floor). We did 2 laps around that. After running the 2 laps, we ran to the basement and ran to the field! We made 2 laps around the warning track, which was amazing. We then climbed some stairs to the 2nd level. We ran the 2nd level to the stairs that lead to the 3rd level. After running the 3rd level, we went down the ramp to the Great Hall (on the 1st level). After running through the Great Hall, we went back up the stairs to the 2nd level. On the 2nd level, we ran to the stairs that lead to the 3rd level. And then we ran back down the ramp to the Great Hall and pasted the finish line!

My Dad and I ran it together. He runs marathons so this was a breeze for him. But it was fun to be able to run with him. We both crossed the finish line together. We finished the 5K in 39:50. This wasn't too bad because there were a lot of stairs (which were brutal) and we stopped a few time to take pictures in the field. There was also a part on the warning track where we could take a picture catching a baseball against the outfield wall (so of course I had to do that).

After we crossed the finish line, the volunteers gave us medals, food and a goody bag with a t-shirt, which I was excited for.

About to re-enter the basement. I just wanted to keep on running the warning track |

One of the coolest things actually happened after the race. My Dad's friend works for ESPN as a video tech. ESPN was setting up for a Monday night game at the stadium. So my Dad's friend gave us a backstage tour of the ESPN trucks! We walked around to the back of the Stadium and had to get special passes from the Yankees Office. We entered the gate where the trucks were and went inside them. We saw where the producers sit, and where the video and audio portion of the broadcast gets made and edited. It is amazing how much work goes into the production of an ESPN broadcast.

After our tour, we went hope and relaxed with a BBQ. It was a great and tiring day and I can't wait to run the 5K again next year!
