October...Leaves on the trees change colors, pumpkins are being carved, apples are being picked, and that recognizable fall smell is in the air.
I love this month. Halloween is something I always enjoy especially seeing 20 year old college students dress up for classes and making fools out of themselves. I love the smell of fresh picked apples and freshly carved pumpkins. Baseball season is getting interesting, football season is heating up, and hockey season starts (well, not this year but it usually starts around now). It is sweatshirt season, so it is not too hot but not too cold. Heck, my birthday is in this month too!
But October is the month where graduate school kicks its students in the butt. I have 5 exams, at least 6 quizzes, and 2 clinical visits this month. Because of this, my time is limited. No more spontaneous (and quite rare) visits to the gym. No more free time on the weekends. No more going out on Wednesday nights to hang out. No more..well, anything except studying and going to classes.
With this in mind, I still need to do something to keep my sanity (even though I will probably lose it anyway). There is a 5K in Flint on October 20th in the morning. It is called the University of Michigan/Michigan State University Tailgate Challenge. U of M supporters will run/walk counter-clockwise and MSU supporters will run/walk clockwise on the course (this race is the same day as the Michigan/Michigan State football game, which is a big deal here). Basically we get to smack talk to the MSU supporters during the run. I am thinking of doing it. It is only $18 to enter and you get a free shirt. And you get to smack talk which is awesome. And since it is in the morning, I will have time to watch the U of M vs MSU game and study (YAY)!
With that being said, I lend this post with this...GO BLUE!
